For engineering leads

Give an agent a bounded change. Inspect the result.

Start with a repository task small enough to review. Define what may change, the checks it must pass and the person who decides what happens next.

02 / Bound the change

What would make this change reviewable?

A plausible answer or a green status is not enough. The reviewer needs the actual change, relevant check results and the concerns that remain.

Before you connect anything

Define permission before execution.

Objective
What observable behavior should change?
Allowed scope
Which repository, paths and actions are in scope?
Acceptance
Which existing checks and manual observations establish the result?
Release owner
Who reviews the evidence, and who can authorize release?
Make the decision tangible

One maintenance change. A separate review packet.

Illustrative engineering example · fictional repository, written task (work order) and proposed evidence. These are acceptance targets, not a claim that a run or test passed.

Work order

Handle an empty export cleanly.

Objective
Show an empty-state message when there are no export rows.
Allowed scope
The export view and its existing component test.
Excluded
No schema changes, dependencies, credentials or production deployment.
Acceptance
Check populated and empty states; run the relevant existing test.

Review packet

Keep the evidence separate from the decision.

Diff
Inspect the actual changed lines and compare them with the allowed scope.
Checks
Record the command, result and revision tested. A proposed check is not a passing result.
Concern
Record untested behavior or an environment limitation.
Decision
A person reviews the packet and decides whether to continue. Passing checks alone do not authorize release.
A practical next step

From request to a review decision.

  1. Write the bounded task

Use the existing Harness guide to prepare objective, scope, exclusions and acceptance before the run.

  2. Confirm active controls

Check the actual tool integration and installed guards. Do not assume an instruction is an enforced boundary.

  3. Read the result

Compare the diff with the task, inspect checks and resolve concerns before a release decision.

Where Odin fits

Connect the parts
this work needs.

Choose the capabilities around the task. These are configured starting points, not an automatic bundle.

Guards must be installed and active. Scope enforcement depends on the integration. On Odin’s execution integration, sandboxing requires an available, configured sandbox; otherwise execution can fall back to a local process with a filtered environment. Human release authority remains separate.

Move forward with a clear question

Prepare the first bounded change.

The Harness guide helps you collect the repository context, allowed scope and evidence a reviewer will need. It does not install controls or grant release permission.
